Saddle Positioning & New Pedals Relieve Pain for Duathalon Athlete
Lauren is a road cyclist and runner who competes in duathlons. She came to us to see if her bike fit was contributing to the knee pain she was experiencing while riding. Lauren also complained that her feet fell asleep during rides. The fitting resulted in a raised and more forward saddle position. The stock handlebar on her bike was too wide and had a very deep drop. She said she never rode in the drops because it was not comfortable. We installed a proper width handlebar with a shallower drop.
Lauren brought new shoes to the fitting that she felt fit her better than her old shoes and wanted us to look at and possibly incorporate in the bike fit. We agreed that the shoes fit better and installed new properly positioned cleats as well as Speedplay pedals.
The feedback from Lauren on the new position and handlebars has been very positive. Lauren has decided that her next step is to have us fit her for and build up a dedicated bike for racing duathalons.
