Turning a passion for cycling into a plus for the community was the goal for Team Western MA at the Best Buddies Hyannis Port Challenge ride on June 4. Fit to Ride partners Brian Case, Jamie Pelletier, and Matt Brewster joined the team for the first time in this year’s annual fundraiser for Best Buddies. Best Buddies is an international, nonprofit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The fundraising event includes 100, 50, and 20 mile point-to-point bike ride options as well as running and walking events. Team Western MA started their 100 mile ride from the Kennedy Library in Boston and made their way down the coast, to several rest stops, and over the canal to reach the finish at Craigsville Beach on Cape Cod.
The team topped its $10,000 goal for this year by raising more than $13,500 for Best Buddies International. Thank you to all who supported the team and Best Buddies in this year’s fundraiser.

Team Western MA members also included Kimberly Kisiel, who also rode the 100 mile challenge, as well as Adam Smith and Howard Berkowitz who were unable to attend on event day. Brian, Matt, and Jamie are already registered for the 2012 team.
